The GRE (Graduate Record Examination) is a standardized test that assesses verbal, quantitative, and writing skills. It is administered by universities and graduate schools around the world.

The two exams are of applied logic in two disciplines that are basic in academic life: Language and Mathematics.

GMAT: This is an adaptive test; the score for the next question is adjusted to your level based on your answer to each question. You cannot use a calculator in math.

GRE: It is an adaptive test by modules of every 20 questions and, in this exam, you can use a calculator.

For a postgraduate degree you can present either of the two.

The time of each section in GMAT and GRE are very limited so you are forced to know the “strategies” which you should use to answer each type of question in the shortest time possible because you have to answer them all and you can’t move forward or backward in the same section.

A well-structured study plan with theory and exercises, along with the support of an experienced instructor who knows the exam inside out and can teach you the best strategies to use for each section of the GRE.

It depends on your level and target score, but most candidates spend between 2 and 3 months of consistent preparation.

The registration fee is around USD 220, although it may vary depending on the country where you apply.

Each university has its own requirements, but competitive programs typically require more than 320 total points out of the maximum score of 370.

You can take it at an authorized center or via the GRE at Home option, which has the same structure and scoring.

Depending on the postgraduate degree and university you want to apply to, they may ask you, within their admission requirements, General GRE and also the specific one. These are the disciplines where you will also be asked to take the specific test: Biology, Chemistry, Literature, Mathematics. Physics, Psychology, and it is mandatory to do it in person. The dates are not very regular. In the test of GMAT you just have to take the General exam for any postgraduate you want to do.

It depends on your goal and your strengths. The GMAT is the recommended exam for MBAs, MBAs, and MScs and emphasizes quantitative reasoning. The GRE is accepted in many MBAs and other postgraduate programs, and its verbal component requires more vocabulary.
