The new TOEFL is designed to adapt to students with varying skill levels. The sections of Reading and Listen are adaptive in stages (multistage adaptive), created to accurately and efficiently measure the candidate's language level. Performance in the first part from one section is used to select the content of the second part, so that the difficulty of the tasks matches the examinee's level. Adapting the content to the candidate's level improves the accuracy of the results with less administration time.

Safety during the exam is ensured through a combination of trained human supervisors and artificial intelligence (AI). AI technology monitors the candidate's computer activity and settings, sending alerts to supervisors for any unusual behavior or changes in the room's conditions. Furthermore, various security measures are implemented before and after the test to minimize content exposure and detect potential violations.
