Applying for an MBA and especially in top business schools is a long and hard process. It is a process that requires constant dedication for approximately two years before being able to take the master's degree because there are a lot of procedures to do: TOEFL, GMAT, application for scholarships and application to universities. To ensure a place the year you plan to do the MBA, you must focus on a minimum of 4 or 5 universities and in order to have funding you need to apply for all the scholarships that are available to you. To all this we must add our day-to-day work that often leaves almost no room for other things. Time management and efficiency are two fundamental aspects of having a strong application for an MBA.
When one considers taking an MBA, it must be clear that an obstacle course begins in which one should not be defeated by any of them. One of the first stones that candidates come across along the way is that of the GMAT, and it is perhaps one of the most feared. The GMAT is the first selection filter for most universities, but in few cases it is a determining factor for acceptance. Universities assume that you are going to obtain the necessary GMAT and where a student should really excel is in essays and interviews. Therefore, the strategy I took was to get the GMAT and TOEFL as soon as possible so that I could focus on the essays of both the universities and the scholarships.
In Applied Linguistic Techniques they helped me streamline the process. I learned the strategies to solve the exam in much less time than it would have taken if I had prepared the exam on my own. The method they use is, in my opinion, the optimal one. The 100% classes are focused on the practical problems that you will encounter on the day of the exam and each teacher, whether verbal or quantitative, explains what the different “tricks” are that can be used to solve each of the problems. All this combined with the practices in the "Test Center" means that the day of the exam you will not find any surprises and you feel prepared.
Once past the GMAT, I realized that the obstacle course had only just begun. There was still the TOEFL and all the "applications". TLA is the only center in all of Barcelona that deals with providing solutions to this long process. Not only do they care that you get a good grade in GMAT and TOEFL but they also worry about giving you information about universities, organizing talks and even advising you with applications to universities and scholarships.
