A more practical and modern approach
The new TOEFL It abandons lengthy and unrepresentative tasks from the university environment. The exam now focuses on verifying whether the student can understand information, organize ideas, and express themselves accurately in English, as required at university.
Changes to the Writing section
The Writing section has been completely revamped. Instead of writing lengthy essays, candidates will complete shorter, more functional tasks. These include ordering words to form correct sentences, writing academic emails, and participating in written discussions on university topics. Clarity, grammatical accuracy, and appropriate use of academic register are highly valued.
New in the Speaking section
The oral section is also adapted to more realistic situations. The exam assesses the ability to answer specific questions, repeat information heard, and express ideas clearly and naturally. Fluency and clear pronunciation play a central role.
Clearer and more direct reading and listening
The Reading and Listening sections retain their academic character, but with better-structured texts and audio. The goal is to assess genuine comprehension of the content, without relying on tricks or rote learning strategies.
A clearer scoring system
The scoring system is adjusted to provide results that are more understandable and easier to interpret for both students and universities.

- The overall score will be the average of the four sections, rounded to the nearest half band (for example, if a student's average section scores are 5.125, they will receive an overall score of 5).
