Testimonial for Técnicas Lingüísticas Aplicadas
It was about a year ago that I came to Barcelona. I was on my “campaign” looking for an appropriate job in Spain, and it was then that I decided to start preparing for the studies which I planned to undertake in a couple of years’ time. My brother had just entered the INSEAD MBA, so I received a lot of practical information from him. One of the things he had always emphasized was to “start early and find the right counselor”. He told me how he had struggled with the GMAT and later on with the essays in his application, and always stressed the importance of having a much-experienced person beside you to help you toward being accepted for the MBA you might want. I looked for the experts here in Barcelona to help me with the GMAT as well as with the application process, and I found Técnicas Lingüísticas Aplicadas. I think that asking them to help me was one of the most important decisions I have made in my struggle for an MBA entrance.
First of all, I found TLA because I was looking for a counselor to prepare me for the GMAT test. I really thought that it was just another mathematics and English test, even though I had heard that it actually had little to do with the knowledge of those subjects. Now, after having prepared for and taken the GMAT, I know that this is actually the case. And even though, at first, I was skeptical about the TLA methods of teaching “strategies” to “crack” the GMAT, I am now convinced that this is the simplest and most efficient way to get the score you need on this self-adaptive test. The GMAT is like playing golf. In the end you do not compete with other players, you compete with yourself and with the handicap you have achieved the last time. When you are in front of the screen with just another question about “a train leaves from point A to point B”, you should not think about formulae, about geometrics or any other complicated mathematical issues. You should know that the GMAT is like fighting against yourself: the better you are, the harder it gets. But the harder it gets the more satisfied you are in the end for having “cracked” it! It all comes down to your creativity in seeing the same problem from a different angle, to your determination to strive not for 650 but for 800, to working under pressure, and to quick decision making. This is why I say I am so satisfied with the help I received from TLA. They do not teach you either mathematics or English (even though if you needed that they would surely help). What they do is to teach you these “management skills” and special strategies to achieve the goal you are striving for in your the GMAT score.
Moreover, when you already have your GMAT score the contact with TLA does not disappear: they are always there to help you reach your final goal – the MBA. After I took the GMAT I also needed to do the TOEFL as part of my preparation for that goal. I went to TLA and asked for advice, which of course I received, and which has proven as invaluable in respect of that examination as was the advice that I received concerning the GMAT
I am still in contact with TLA, and am planning my trip to the United States to visit the universities that I am planning to apply to. TLA helps me in every stage of my application process. I get counseling about what my next step should be and what I have to be prepared for.
Finally, I would like to thank all the team at TLA. I am convinced that the seemingly unimportant decision to choose TLA and its methodology from among other ways of preparation will in fact prove invaluable in my being able to enter the university that I want to attend.
